The Ultimate Holiday To-Do List

Hello again readers! Just in case you've forgotten, it's holidays over here in Australia! I'm super pumped, because I've had to scroll through tumblr for 3 months, depressed while I still attended the hellish confinement that is school, and now, I finally get a break! After a massive exam block in weeks 9 and 10, I think I'm in dire need of some relaxation time, and luckily, I'm all over it. Today, I plan on sharing with you some possible additions to your very own holiday to-do lists. Are you excited already? I know I am.

Binge Watch Movies and TV Shows

For those of you who really enjoy partying it up and living your life outside the confines of your bedroom, this may come across as quite a challenge. However, I can assure you as an experienced lounge addict, it's really quite simple. Never underestimate the magic of doing nothing. Sometimes you get so caught up in the idea of planning outings and scheduling activities for everyday you have off that you forget to actually have a bit of a rest in the holidays. And how does one indulge themselves in some chill time? Binge watching movies and TV shows I can guarantee you now is one great way to do it. And please, I beg of you, don't be exclusive. If you set out to only watch mainstream movies made in the past 5 years or something, you will be missing out on so much! I seriously watch everything from 80's to 90's, from films everyone's heard of to films no one's ever heard of, and it is seriously wonderful! Also, getting the chance to start a new TV show can get super addictive, and in those random patches during the term when you have nothing to do, you can continue plowing through the seasons.

Sims

Okay, I'm going to go out on a limb here and hypothesise that not everyone spends their holiday engaging in the magical world of sims for hours on end. Yeah, I didn't think so. However, if you even vaguely have an addictive personality, I can guarantee that this game's for you. You can make your own family, work towards jobs, do well in school, and perhaps best of all, learn all of the cheat codes and make your sims as rich and pleasant as possible. It's almost like real life, only better and with a fast forward button! I guess I have to admit that this may not be for everyone (considering some people have actual lives), but if you contain even a semblance of awesomeness, you will appreciate it. Or you know, alternatively there's always tumblr to waste your life on as well (or in the words of a wise, young mexican girl, perche no los dos?).

Some kind of Outdoor Activity

Easy for some, not so simple for others, I think enduring the outdoors is necessary for at least one day during the holidays (you know, so you can appreciate how awesome and superior being inside is). I've already had my little bike riding excursion, so I'm set, but for those of you who are yet to endeavour into the sun (or rain depending on the weather), I have a few suggestions for you. There are a litany of not totally horrible things that you can do, and perhaps make the outdoors seem a little less terrible. For instance, you can take a visit to either the beach or the pool (or if you're feeling adventurous, both), or perhaps kick it old-school and invest in some roller skates or something, the possibilities are truly endless! Plus, you only need to suck it up and leave the house for one day to feel truly accomplished, so just get it out of the way in the least painful way possible.

Attempt Fancy Nail Art

I don't know about your school, but I know at mine, nail polish is certainly not an approved part of the uniform. Sure, it kinda sucks, but I guess it just means we get the opportunity to get super creative with it whenever the holidays come around. Youtube is a wonderful, magical place for finding a number of awesome things, and when it comes to nail art, it's really no different. There are a bunch of specialised tutorials to help you in your nail polish endeavours, which means the days of simplistic, block colours are over. Now, I just have to warn you, I did put attempt in the subheading for a reason. To become a pro-polisher takes lots of practise (and no, I don't think I'm even close to being there), so it takes a number of failed attempts to even get something decent looking happening on your nails. But have no fear, the fun is in the creating, not so much the finished product. And if it turns out to be truly terrible, you've got an instant conversation starter for the next few days (until you can't stand it anymore and have to whip out the nail polish remover).

Do Embarrassing Karaoke

If it were up to me, this wouldn't be reserved strictly for the holidays, but I guess there are those of us who are relatively sane who'd have other ideas. However, there's absolutely no doubting that karaoke is an amazingly awesome addition to, well, just life in general. It totally allows you to sing ridiculously loudly and terribly, and no one can really judge you for it (or if they do, it's in a more discrete way). Of course, you don't have to go out on a limb and do it in a public setting (unless of course you're awesome and are up for that), because thanks to the magic of the Nintendo Wii, this is now possible in the privacy of your own homes. I don't want to brag or anything, but I may just be the proud owner of all 3 volumes of Glee Karaoke, in addition to my pop and Disney hits collection (and by may, I mean I totally am), so you guys better get cracking.

You've now officially reached the end of my rather uneventful, terribly lame list. If you were after an adventure guide, you've definitely come to the wrong place and I apologise for wasting your time, however if you're cool like me and savour the awesomeness of any activity lacking in movement, you're welcome. Til' next time . . .

Annabel xx
