BRB March: Greetings April!

Hello again my readers! Congratulations on making it through another hectic month! I'm pretty pumped for April, it should be awesome. Sure, I have to get through an exam block next week, but then at 3:15pm on the afternoon of Friday the 11th, I am officially free (for 2 weeks)! What's not to love about holidays (sorry to all you non Australian readers)? But, before we can officially delve into the month ahead, I think you guys know the drill by now, it's time to reflect on some of the most memorable popular culture moments that have occurred in the past 31 days. Intro sorted, let's get cracking . . .

5. New Directions ends for good!

I don't even care if anyone says this isn't a big deal, to me, this is huge! Of course, I've only put it at number 5 because I'm keeping you guys in mind (dedication!) and I am aware that probably not all of you are raging gleeks (though you should be). But seriously, can you believe that New Directions has officially ended?!? I myself am still in shock. At least I've had a while to process it considering I read all of the spoilers on Glee Wikia months in advance, but that doesn't change anything. Actually seeing Mr Schue say goodbye to the choir room was super weird, I felt like I was in some kind of awful, parallel universe (like a dystopian AU fanfiction). Don't get me wrong, the synopsis' for the next few Glee episodes looks amazingly awesome, and I seriously love the New York storyline, but it's just so weird that the club that started everything doesn't even exist anymore. I'm not exactly devastated that the 'Glee Second Generation' kids like Marley and Jake won't be in it anymore, I mean it's not like I hated them or anything, it's just, they're no original gang. At least we were left with this final message to console us over the death of the Glee Club:

I guess we'll just have to wait and see the awesomeness that tomorrow's new episode (entitled 'New New York') has to offer.

4. Adele Dazeem was born

Yeah yeah, I know I already did an Oscars post (a super extensive one), but suck it up and read the paragraph, this was a thing. I think everyone by now knows of the massive blunder that was John Travolta introducing musical theatre legend Idina Menzel as Adele Dazeem. Even so, here's another spoof gif just for the hell of it:

I have to say, no matter how mainstream the blunder, I still find it ridiculously funny. Really? Adele Dazeem? But what makes this stuff-up even better is the fact that the internet's just run wild with it. Now, we all have the chance to John Travoltarise our names with the new John Travolta Name Generator widget. So without further ado, I introduce you to my new self . . .

3. How I Met Your Mother Ends Forever

After nine long years of HIMYM gracing our television screens, the final episode crept in on the 31st, officially marking the end of a legendary era. What are we supposed to do with our lives now? It's so depressing. It was just one of those shows you assumed would keep going forever and ever, but now, what is life? I honestly wouldn't have even cared if we never found out who the mother was, I just wanted the show to keep going. But no, apparently leaving it hanging forever wasn't an option, so instead, they chose to depress a couple of million people, whatever. But I guess we can seek comfort in the fact that there'll always be constant re-runs. Remember when people thought everyone would forget about 'Friends'? Oh how they were wrong.

2. Divergent is released at the movies

I have to admit, I really don't know much about 'Divergent', but even I know that it's super popular at the moment. It seems that any motion picture version of a dystopian book series is getting all the teenagers excited these days, so much so that star of 'Divergent' Shailene Woodley is being described as the new Jennifer Lawrence (although I really don't think she can top J-Law, just saying). So of course, due to everyone's major fangirling (and fanboying) surrounding this movie release, it just had to make it on the list. Has it come out in Australia yet? I don't even know (is that bad?). Who knows, there may be a review popping up on Teenage Fanatic very soon (*cough* hint *cough*) . . .

1. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin enter into Splitsville

Sneaking in at the end of the month was the break-up between these two celebrities. I guess it came as quite a shock, though it's not like I was intensely checking their relationship for hints of dysfunction, so who knows. I guess it's sad for them, but honestly, ever since I found out that Coldplay refused to let 'Glee' cover 'Viva La Vida' in the pilot episode (sure they've made up for it now, but I'm still upset), I've kind of disliked him. Plus, most of Coldplay's songs suck. Although it legitimately seems like the weirdest, most amicable break up ever. They were seen going out to dinner on the weekend with their friends, and sure you can think 'oh that's nice, they've found a way to get along', but they broke up last week! Who does that? And also, apparently Gwyneth still plans to go on tour with Coldplay (because that won't be awkward at all). I honestly don't know how Hollywood managed to produce that.

So that's the end of my little 'welcome to April' post. Now that we've officially let go of March and all it had to offer, we can movie into a new, more awesome month, yay! Til' next time . . .

Annabel xx
