Blogosphere, welcome back again! It seems that a mere 2 days ago, the epic J-Law that we all know and love turned a whopping 24 on August 15th. So how am I choosing to celebrate this? By doing what I love to do the most - listing a bunch of random accolades. Plus, I may or may not also mention some of the reasons why she's awesome and ridiculously popular. Sound good? I think so. Without further ado, may I introduce to you the past 24 years of Jennifer Lawrence . . .
Why does everyone love her?
It's no secret that J-Law is definitely one of the biggest it-girls in Hollywood circa 2014. But what are the core reasons for her extreme popularity and inherent likability? The answers await.
She seems super human (which seems to be a Hollywood rarity)
I don't know about you guys, but in the majority of interviews I see with celebrities, I always end up feeling super uncomfortable at how rehearsed and perfectly prepared all of the supposed improvisational conversation seems to be. The more artificial and detached the celebrity seems, the more people tend to lose interest. However, with J-Law, this is never the case. In every interview she participates in, Jennifer always manages to toss an awkward, funny and totally relatable one liner in there somewhere. Gone are the plastic, word-perfect A-listers with immaculate PR prep, and in are the quirky, no-filter, hilarious loose canons. If we picked a random person off the street and shoved them in front of a film set, forcing them to be a part of an interview, I'm fairly certain the results would be rather similar to what J-Law does now, which is why everyone finds her so relatable. So Jennifer, just keep doing what you're doing.
She loves food and isn't afraid to show it
Let's face it, food is one of the most glorious things on the planet. Come on, you have to admit, it's just plain wonderful. However, it seems that people are struggling to find a celebrity who also shares this extreme love of the world of the edible. Why? Maybe because they don't eat, or at least want other people to think that. But really, what's the fun in that? If you're a famous actor and receiving a whole lot of money from your millions of successful movies, what's the point if you can't spend it on ridiculously awesome food? It seems that Jennifer is also of this opinion, because seriously, in pretty much every interview she's ever been in, she's mentioned some sort of food. And good on her! Most of the time, it's what we're all thinking about too (seriously, the dinner menu has plagued my thoughts through a substantial amount of class time). Now, finally, we have a mainstream celebrity who also appreciates the awesomeness of culinary delights.
She's super duper talented
This one pretty much speaks for itself. I don't think there's anyone out there who hasn't seen a J-Law movie, because she's pretty much everywhere at the moment (and there's most definitely a reason for that). Not only is she awesome and quirky and super funny, but she has the immense acting talent to back it up. I hate it when there are super popular celebrities roaming around Hollywood without an inch of talent, yet they still manage to receive a bunch of accolades and bucket loads of attention. Luckily, this is certainly not the case with J-Law. Plus, you know, there's the whole Oscar thing which kind of validates that as well. But wait, there's more. If you thought her only skill was acting, you would be terribly incorrect. Low and behold, her hidden talent:
She embarrasses her co-stars
I think all of us get a least a little (or in my case, a lot) of enjoyment out of embarrassing either siblings (if you have them) or friends. Well, I think we've found another similarity between J-Law and the general population, because it seems she feels the same way. No matter the occasion, Jennifer's right there, bringing up the socially unacceptable. She never lets the formality of award shows keep her from letting it fly, and just gatecrashes her way into her co-star's interviews. How awesome is that? Embarrassment on an international level! If only us mere mortals had that power. There's no doubting that there's nothing held back with Jennifer Lawrence.
She was as devastated at not getting her Hogwarts letter as we were
For the majority of people, 11 was the hardest age of their tween life. Why you may ask? Because we were all anxiously awaiting our letter of invitation to Hogwarts (a letter that has still never come). Rejection is never easy, especially when it's to a fictional school as awesome as HSOWAW, but at least now we know J-Law was along for the ride and felt the same pain we did. Being a Potterhead is such a hard feat, because after your young, hopeful hearts are shattered, you have to keep watching the movies and reading the books like a true fan, and you're faced with the life of what might have been. But now at least we can take comfort in the fact that Jennifer also went through this, and as a result, chose the glitzy life of Hollywood as a 2nd choice to witchcraft and wizardry. I guess that's a pretty good back-up plan.
So that's officially the end of my little list celebrating the good old J-Law. Just once more before we go, I wish Jennifer a happy (belated) birthday, and hope to see many Oscar nominations and wins in her future. Til' next time . . .
Annabel xx
